Roofing and chimney work in Mansfield
Mansfield Township lies along the Route 57 corridor between Hackettstown and Washington, in the valley the Morris Canal once followed across Warren County. The old canal village of Port Murray is part of the township, and the Musconetcong River runs along its southeastern side. Farm fields still cover much of the valley floor, with subdivisions, scattered rural homes and commercial buildings along the highway filling in between.

Housing in Mansfield
Mansfield's oldest homes are 1800s farmhouses on the valley farms and village houses in Port Murray from the canal and railroad era, many with steep roofs, additions and brick chimneys. Most of the township's housing, however, is newer: colonials, split-levels, ranches and townhouses built from the later 20th century onward. Commercial and light-industrial buildings along Route 57 carry flat and low-slope roofs. Asphalt shingle dominates on homes.
Weather and exposure
The broad valley between the ridges is open farmland in many places, so homes on or near the fields take wind with little shelter. Cold air and fog settle on the valley floor, especially near the Musconetcong, and winters bring sustained snow and freeze-thaw. Homes on the wooded slopes at the valley edges deal with shade and debris instead.
